How to Prevent German Cockroaches in Modular Kitchens

Published by RDP Technical Team • Sector 7, Dwarka

Kitchen sanitation for cockroach prevention

Modern modular kitchens in Delhi apartments feature multiple hidden cavities, back panels, and appliance gaps that provide perfect nesting microclimates for German cockroaches.

1. Eliminate Moisture Around Sink Traps

Cockroaches can survive for weeks without solid food, but need water daily. Inspect kitchen sink drain pipes, reverse osmosis (RO) purifier waste water lines, and refrigerator drip pans for slow leaks.

2. Seal Back Gaps in Modular Cabinetry

Use silicone sealant to close small 2mm gaps between kitchen countertops, wall tiles, and lower cabinet skirting boards where roaches take refuge during daylight.

3. Clean Heat-Emitting Appliance Motors

Microwave vents, mixer grinder bases, and refrigerator compressor coils emit gentle warmth that attracts breeding females. Regularly brush and vacuum behind large appliances.

4. Avoid Corrugated Cardboard Storage

E-commerce delivery boxes and grocery cartons are glued with starch-based adhesives that roaches consume. Unpack grocery items promptly and discard cardboard packaging outside living areas.
